This museum had been planned in 1978 at the south-west foot of Mt.Sanage to conserve the unearthed materials from the old Sanage kilns and to provide them for reference.
In Aichi Prefecture are located not only Sanage kilns site, but also Seto and Tokoname areas which have a long and outstanding history of ceramic production from prehistoric times to the present, and the Prefecture is still the most active in ceramic industry in Japan. So the plan was expanded to aim the world ceramic hall with a collection of ceramics from throughout the world.
Here are introduced some featured items among our collection which has been accumulated since the opening of the Museum.
